Monarch Insolvency - Advice to our Clients

on

With the news that Monarch Airlines has now sadly entered into administration this morning, our initial advices to those clients who are currently on holiday having travelled with Monarch, or are booked to travel with them in the future, is as follows:-

  • If you are currently abroad the Civil Aviation Authority will arrange to bring you back home, around the scheduled time that the Monarch flight was due to depart.  Clients are advised to check the Monarch website 48 hours before departure.  This is regardless of whether it’s a package (ATOL protected) or flight only (these are not ATOL protected if booked after 14/12/16), you will be brought home at no extra cost to you.
  • If you have yet to fly please check with your credit card company, or bank, in the first instance with regards to obtaining a refund. If you have a package holiday booked with Monarch this will be ATOL protected and therefore a full refund will be provided to you by ATOL themselves. Flights booked with Monarch after the 14th of December 2016 are not however ATOL protected. Further details can be obtained from Monarch’s own website https://monarch.caa.co.uk/customers/i-have-a-future-booking-and-have-not-travelled-yet/
  • If you are unable to obtain a refund elsewhere then your travel insurance policy may be able to assist, subject to the individual covers, exclusions and applicable excesses of that policy. This will be on a case-by-case basis, as not all travel policies are the same.  If the claim was to be successful this would be then taken into consideration by Insurers with regards to future premiums at next renewal. Please contact our Claims Department on 0161 830 5502 and we will be happy assist you further in this regard.
