Right to Rent Legislation 2016

 

“Right to Rent Legislation” came into force on 1st February 2016.

This applies to ALL private landlords and requires them to carry out right to rent checks for all new leases signed on or after 1st February 2016.

Failure to comply with the legislation will result in a fine of up to £3,000 per tenant.

The checks are to ensure you are not renting your property to someone who isn’t allowed to stay in the UK.
